On 6 Sept, the Dover Chemical company in Dover was responsible for a toxic spill of a phenol based product into Sugar Creek (tributary to the Tuscarawas) resulting the immediate killing of fish.

There was no report to the public from them, local politicos, OEPA, ODNR or anyone for that mater. That is until George Wright ventured down to the creek on Sept 10th (4 days after the event) for some fishing only to find all the fish dead. He contacted the local fire department along with OEPA among others and the result was that they knew of it and that all was ok now. They also informed him that they had no responsibly to inform the public of a potential hazard in the waters where George or his or your children would recreate. The “system” is broke. Just like with myself last year with the oil spill on the Tuscarawas, it just blew him away that there seemed to be such apathy. He started posting pics, contacting media and 19 Action News did a report. It concerns me and should you that when we take our grandkids, kids, family to fish, play, swim, explore the waters near our home under the assumption that authorities have ensured the safety or at least reported to us of the potential hazards, that we can be assured of our safety. Go check out Georges FB.
