Riverkeepers Ohio

I love when kids ask me what we are doing?
Thank You, Kayandisu for stopping with your children and sharing some time. Riverkeepers Ohio is about getting our future generations involved in keeping our waterways clean.

The movement that is Riverkeepers Ohio was born on this day 2 years ago along this section of the Tuscarawas River
A special thanks to the core of Sherry Carnahan, Dave Stoler and Wendy Hagen. We have stopped over 6 tons of trash from getting into major waterways like the Tuscarawas and Summit Lake. Stay tuned for the next 2 years!! For more on the #disasteronthetuscarawas, visit our website: riverkeepersohio.com

A bird’s eye view of the Cordova Ave property that RiverkeepersOhio has been asked to assist in mitigating the trash, cleaning up the area and restoring this treasure in the middle of urban Akron.
It is a VERY ambitious project but with the help of Akron City Council, the City Service Department, Black Hawk Foundation, Let’s Grow Akron, Summit Soil and Water Conservation District and the surrounding property owners, we can show what passionate people can accomplish.

The canal boom continues to be a gem when it comes to keeping trash out of Summit Lake.
Picking it up here is so much easier that trying to get it from all over the lake. Thank you again to all that assist with our efforts to keep the trash out of this waterway! Summit Metro Parks, Ohio Erie Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, South Street Ministries and all the #riverkeepersohio folks.

Thank You to the Administrative Office at Summit Metro Parks!
Bags are the largest consumable for #riverkeepersohio. I was just about to make an order when an email came saying there were donations ready for pickup! Perfect timing!!

All This Rain!
Love it because it is pushing the trash to our booms for us to collect instead of going into the Tuscarawas and Summit Lake! Thanks again to the City of Akron, Summit Metro Parks and Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition for picking up what is collected.

This just hurts my heart
This just hurts my heart and why I am so motivated to clean up Summit Lake and to stop the trash from getting in here.
