OEPA back out again today.

Update is:

There was a very large trash dam upstream just south of Wooster Rd. There was a large volume of oil in that dam but where that originated from is not known. In collaboration, the City of Akron, City of Barberton and the OEPA put in a hard boom downstream, crews entered the water and manually broke up the dam pushing the debris down to the boom where two 1000 gallon vacuum trucks removed the pollutants. Thank You All for that!

What we are seeing today is probably the remnants of the dam but to be sure, OEPA is on site and testing to confirm. We will provide additional details when available.

This is NOT a major spill, rather an accumulation over a long period. #riverkeepersohio is dedication to proactively cleaning our waterways for future generations.
