While I was filming the construction site at Summit Lake this morning, I came across this man picking up trash along the fence line.
Introduced myself and we talked some. He does this because it makes his heart happy is what he shared. Not showing his face out of respect for his privacy.

New boom deployed in Norton on Wolf Creek!
This is a 5 minute video showing the process of building and installing a boom. We anticipate a pretty good volume of trash collected here and very grateful to Julie Miller and her husband for giving access to this location and the City of Norton who will be picking up our collected trash!

Had to pull out “the guns” for 253 pounds of trash this morning that made it downstream on Mud Run when our booms blew out from the flooding. (We repaired them yesterday).
We do have some fun and really appreciate the waves and words of encouragement from folks passing by. Tomorrow at 8 am, we will be on Summit Lake around the Nature Center adding secondary booms there. (Too much trash coming through the storm sewers on heavy rain events). 2 bags, 67 pounds not going into the lake. Sooo…there was so much microplastics here. I had to shake it out of the organics and scoop it with my hands. Sadly, two geese had perished some time earlier in the week and floated down to the boom. They were removed and reported to ODNR. Weather…

Moved the booms at Mud Run
Because moving water is ever changing, we need to adjust. Dave and I were talking after the move how full of trash this area was last year when we started this. Now, we almost always see fish and wildlife here. Does make us feel good.

Ice to contend with here at Mud Run. Busted my butt on the way to the Canal boom (no video). 61 pounds. The flu had held me down the past week.
